Tamil Nadu Corruption Watch is an initiative started by Srini Swaminathan.
This is an independent public accountability platform. We track the lifecycle of corruption cases, from the first complaint or FIR through investigation, chargesheet, trial and final judgment or disciplinary action, so that citizens, journalists and researchers can follow what happens after a case is reported.
This platform does not accept new corruption complaints. If you want to report an incident, use your state's official grievance channels. What we do is track the public status of cases that are already on record.
We group cases editorially into "Big Fish" (high profile or systemic corruption) and "Small Fish" (everyday bribery) based on the nature of the case, not the amount of money involved. A ₹50,000 bribe by a senior official can be "Big Fish"; a ₹500 bribe that reveals a systemic pattern can still matter just as much.
Every case carries a verification state (Unverified, Source Verified or Officially Confirmed), shown separately from the case's legal status, so readers can judge how much to trust a given record at a glance. You may also use the feedback form to send us corrections or suggestions.
An FIR, inquiry or chargesheet is an allegation, not a finding of guilt. We update case statuses as they progress, including acquittals and dismissals, and we welcome corrections. Use the "Report a correction" link on any case page.
